Using the Operations Console
The Operations Manager 2012 console introduces performance and User Interface (UI) improvements. The OpsMgr 2012 console is downward compatible with pre-R2 implementations of OpsMgr; however, non-R2 consoles will not be able to connect to an OpsMgr 2012 Management Server (MS).
The console attaches to the MS, and it is not recommended to go above 50 consoles as this adds a major strain on the MS and the database server—even assuming high-performance hardware. The full console can also be directed to other management groups via the MS by going to Tools and then to Connect in the full console.
