Configuring the Hardware Inventory Client Agent
The Hardware Inventory Client Agent provides access to enable or disable the ability to collect hardware inventory on managed systems. From within the agent, the inventory schedule can be configured, and the IDMIF and NOIDMIF file collection can be enabled if necessary. To customize the hardware inventory, it is recommended to make changes to the configuration.mof and client settings. An example of this is detailed in the section “Customizing Hardware Inventory.”
The complete hardware inventory cycle typically completes in a few minutes, with the actual scanning process typically placing a light load on managed systems. The initial inventory for hardware is relatively small, normally less than 1MB, ...
