Creating Registry Keys on the Client

The Registry on the local system contains a significant amount of information and is commonly used to hold custom data for the organization. For example, during the deployment of servers, the department responsible for the server along with extended functionality, such as warranty data, can be added to the Registry automatically with a custom OS deployment package.

For testing, the Registry can be manually populated on a test system with the appropriate data. In this example, several string values located in a custom Registry key are added to the hardware inventory.

To create the Registry entries on the client, do the following:

1. Open regedit.exe on a test Configuration Manager client system (WS2).
