Applications

New in Configuration Manager 2012, applications allow a user-focused deployment model, which was not easily achieved previously. Applications can be targeted at users or devices, but the user targeting allows the application to follow the users no matter what device they’re using.

The components of applications include the following:

Application—The application consists of the software name, version number, and manufacturer. The distribution settings, Application Catalog information, and supersedence settings are also defined within the package.
