Creating Operating System Install Task Sequences

A task sequence is responsible for initiating the set of tasks on the target system. This can include capturing the user state; deploying the operating system, drivers, and software packages; and then reapplying the user state. If the deployment is to a server, the user state capture and reapplication process is not typically used.

Note

Capturing an existing user state is only necessary when performing a user migration. It is not required for new deployments or when the existing profile configuration and data is not required, for example, when roaming profiles are used.
