Managing Operating System Images

Operating system images are preinstalled captures of an existing system in a WIM file, with all the settings and software configured. Typically, a base operating system image is used to jump-start the operating system deployment process, saving time during installation. Applications such as Office 2010 can be preinstalled in this image.

Operating system images are managed the same way operating system installers and applications are managed for software distribution.
