Managing Operating System Installers

Operating system installers are the code needed to install an operating system from scratch. This is essentially a copy of the installation CD, which can be used to install a fresh operating system. Operating system installers are managed the same way applications are managed for software distribution. It is important to establish a clean source on the network to host the operating system media.

The next tasks assume the operating system media for Windows 7 is located in the share called \\CM1\sources\Win7\.

The Windows 7 folder contains a copy of the files and folders on the Windows 7 SP1 DVD media.
