Understanding Content Distribution

A big part of distributing software, updates, and operating systems is getting the bits and bytes of the code to the user’s devices. This accounts for the vast majority of the bandwidth utilization and, thus, the staging requirements. Before the deployment can occur, those bits and bytes need to be locally accessible to the user or device. SCCM 2012 uses a sophisticated content distribution mechanism to ensure that the code is available when needed in the most efficient manner possible.
