Understanding Secondary Sites and Management Points

In addition to primary sites, Configuration Manager provides an infrastructure component referred to as a secondary site. Secondary sites control content distribution for clients in locations with limited bandwidth, typically across the wide area network (WAN) link.

When a client is located within the network boundaries supported by a secondary site and a Management Point, the client communicates with the Management Point to receive policies and send inventory data and state messages. The secondary site communicates with the primary sites based on Site Senders and Addresses, as well as database replication.
