Discovering and Deploying Clients

Potential client systems can be discovered through scheduled tasks available within the Configuration Manager console. The Active Directory system discovery is primarily used to locate systems. The groups to which a computer system belongs can also be discovered with the Active Directory System Group Discovery method. The groups each system is a member of are added to the computer objects as a searchable attribute.

Note

Use the Active Directory Group Discovery from the client’s assigned site. The group discovery works by enumerating the list of managed systems then querying Active Directory for the list of groups of which the system is currently a member.
