State Migration Point

The State Migration Point (SMP) provides a secure location to store the user state from a client system during the OS deployment process. Before the deployment of a new operating system to a target system, the user state can be captured, encrypted, and stored on the State Migration Point. The existing operating system can be wiped and a new operating system deployed. After the new operating system is deployed, the OS deployment can apply the existing user state to the new system, thus preserving the user’s configuration and local data.
