Central Administration Site Servers
The Central Administration Site Server is an optional parent site to all primary sites in the hierarchy. This server has the ability to manage all clients throughout the hierarchy. The Central Site Server provides replication coordination and central administration of configuration for the enterprise. The central site does not, however, manage clients directly and does not support all Site System roles.
The maximum supported number of clients in a single hierarchy is 400,000, assuming the default SCCM 2012 setting and SQL Server Enterprise Edition.
