Redesigned Console

The console in Configuration Manager 2012 has been redesigned to be more in line with the other System Center products, featuring a workspace model with a context-sensitive ribbon that displays only the appropriate tasks and options for the current selection.

The various operations that need to be performed in Configuration Manager are logically grouped into workspaces. These workspaces are as follows:

• Assets and Compliance

• Software Library

• Monitoring

• Administration

When using the console, the administrator only sees the workspaces and nodes within the workspaces that have been assigned to that administrator by role-based administration.
