Configuration Manager Design Considerations

To be able to design a Configuration Manager 2012 architecture, it is necessary to have a working understanding of not just the components of the architecture, but also important design constraints. This includes how Configuration Manager handles data, how to connect Configuration Manager sites, and how Configuration Manager behaves over the WAN. One of the most critical design points is ensuring that the Site Database, Site Server, and Management Point components can handle the volume of data, which is constrained by the disk subsystem and the version of SQL deployed.
