Putting It All Together in a Design

The primary components that directly affect scalability are the Site Server, Site Database, Management Point, and Distribution Point. It is also important to note that the configuration of various settings within the environment also affect performance. For example, configuring 1,000 clients to poll the Management Point every 1 minute and submit hardware and software inventory data based on a hard-coded hourly schedule will consume a lot of resources and will require very large, expensive servers.

Caution

The preceding guidance should be validated with the desired Configuration Manager settings, before implementing a production infrastructure.
