Overview of MSCS

MSCS is a built-in service of Windows 2003 Enterprise and Datacenter Editions. MSCS is used to form a server cluster, which, as mentioned earlier, is a group of independent servers working collectively as a single system. The purpose of the cluster is to preserve client access to applications and other resources in the event of a failure or planned outage. If one of the servers in the cluster is unavailable for any reason, the resources and applications move to another node in the cluster.
