Uses of Replication

There are a number of applications for replication, including sales data distribution and collection, pricing distribution, offloading of reports, and more. Since replication takes a database or subset of a database and keeps it up-to-date on another server, the uses are quite extensive. Uses of replication can include:

  • Scaling out applications

  • Data warehousing

  • Distributing and consolidating data from satellite locations

  • Offloading report processing
