Creating an Excel PivotTable Report

PivotTable reports have been a feature of Microsoft Excel since version 5. Traditionally, a PivotTable report has used a memory-cache method to provide values to the report. In this method, the PivotTable imports values from an Excel list or a database table and stores the values in memory. When a user manipulates the PivotTable report, the report retrieves necessary values from the memory cache. PivotTable reports have been an extremely popular and successful feature of Excel, but the memory-cache method for retrieving values can manipulate only a limited amount of data.
