Transforming Published Data

With snapshot and transactional replication comes the option of transforming data as it goes to the subscriber. Data can be mapped to different columns or datatypes, and it can be filtered using DTS packages.

Examples of how you can use data transformation include

  • Custom vertical and horizontal partitions of published data on a per subscriber basis.

  • Data transformations such as data type mappings (that is, datetime to char data type), column manipulations (that is, concatenating first name and last name columns), string manipulations, and functions.
