Inline Data Validation and Reinitialization

A new function within SQL Server replication is inline data validation. This function helps subscribers and publishers stay synchronized by counting rows or performing checksums. Validation can be configured for merge, transactional, and snapshot replication. You can also configure all subscriptions or specify subscriptions for validation.

Checksums, if you opt to use them, are 32-bit redundancy checks performed on a column-by-column basis. This requires a lot of processing power and should be scheduled to run during the most inactive times on the server.
