Using DTS Packages
You can view existing packages from the Data Transformation Services folder of the Enterprise Manager. The DTS packages can be stored in the local msdb database or in the Microsoft Repository.
NOTE
The advantage to storing the packages in the Repository is that objects contained in these packages, such as ActiveX scripts and data transformations, can be accessed from other tools that support the Registry components. Also, by storing DTS packages in the Repository, you can take advantage of data lineage, which helps you keep track of a data element's transformations from the source system to its final destination.
