Configuration Parameters

The following sections examine each of the SQL Server configuration parameters. The configuration parameters are in alphabetical order, except in special cases when the parameters have already been discussed, such as the memory configuration parameters. Additionally, the advanced options are reviewed separately from the standard options.

NOTE

For each SQL Server 2000 configuration parameter, the Minimum, Maximum, and Default values are listed in table format as well as the dynamic variable status.

allow updates

If the value of allow updates is set to 1, the SQL Server system tables can be modified. But do not set this configuration value to 1 unless told to do so by Microsoft Technical Support.
