Time for action – creating a derived hierarchy
In this example, we will create a derived hierarchy from a product category, subcategory, and product. You will learn how to create a hierarchy in WebUI. You will also see how easy it is for an end user to make changes to hierarchies. This will be explored in the following steps:
- Open MDS WebUI, and then go to System Administration.
- Under the Manage menu, select Derived Hierarchies.
- Select PacktPub_BI_Model and add a hierarchy.
- Name the hierarchy

and save it. - In the Edit Derived Hierarchy window, drag-and-drop entities from the Available entities pane into the Current Levels pane in the following order: Product, Product Subcategory, and Product Hierarchy.
