Conclusion

This chapter has explored four different types of special index: XML, spatial, full text, and semantic. Although they are built, maintained, and used a bit differently than their “ordinary” SQL index counterparts, by looking at the internal tables that comprise these indexes and query plans that use them, you can deduce (for the most part) that they aren’t so different from clustered and nonclustered indexes using computed columns after all.
