As discussed in Chapter 22, regularly scheduled tasks must be performed to ensure that disaster recovery, retention policies, index performance, and monitoring goals are maintained. To ensure that all of these tasks are accomplished via a single technology, Microsoft SQL Server includes a Windows service known as SQL Server Agent.
