Presenting the Data in the Report

With the primary dataset assembled, you can now turn your attention to presenting data in the report. Reporting Services makes available a number of report items for just this purpose, including tables, matrices, charts, and gauges. In this report, you use one of the more basic and most frequently employed report items, the table.

The table is ideal for the presentation of detailed data. Fields from a dataset are tied to the columns of the table with individual values presented along the table rows. Groups defined within the table allow these records to be aggregated, supporting the interpretation of what can be large volumes of data.
