Adding Parameters to the Dataset

A dataset is now assembled with which you can populate your report. Although useful, quite a bit of data is returned making it difficult for users to focus on just those items of interest. Incorporating a parameter provides a means by which the dataset can be restricted based on user input.

Reporting Services provides a number of ways for you to design a parameter for use with a dataset based on an MDX query. The most basic (and reliable) technique is to simply allow the Query Designer to design it for you.
