Transforms

All transforms occur within a Data Flow task. SQL Server ships with 29 transforms, as shown in Figure 24-2.

The Aggregate transform allows you to compute aggregations, such as SUM, MIN, MAX, and AVG, while data is streaming through the package. In order to compute an aggregate, you must first apply the Sort transform to sort the data set. The Aggregate transform operates similar to a SELECT. . .GROUP BY whereby aggregates are calculated within specified groups of data.
