Chapter 8. Introducing Native Access

IN THIS CHAPTER

.NET based applications are called managed applications because they are controlled by Common Language Runtime. Non-.NET based applications are said to execute as unmanaged code or native code. Using Microsoft Visual C++ you can write native applications that use SQL Server Compact Edition 3.0 or a later version.

In this chapter, first we will show you how to manage the SQL Server Compact Edition storage engine. Then, we will show you how to use OLE DB provider for SQL Server Compact Edition to manage and access data from the SQL Server Compact Edition database.
