What’s New in Configuring, Tuning, and Optimizing SQL Server Options

There are a couple of new configuration options in SQL Server 2014. One of these is the backup checksum default option related to guaranteeing the integrity of database backups. Another one is the change in SQL Server 2012 for the startup parameter of the SQL Server database engine that provides an amount of memory to reserve (-g option). However, you must be warned that there are options available that are not obsolete yet but have no effect (even if you set them). We identify them in this chapter as they come up.
