What’s New in Database Backup and Restore
SQL Server 2014 offers the following three main enhancements that are geared towards Backup and Restore:
SQL Server Backup to URL—This option enables SQL Server to perform backup and restore operations utilizing Windows Azure Blob Storage Service. It was introduced in SQL Server 2012 SP1 CU2 but the operations could only be initiated through T-SQL, PowerShell, or SQL Server Management Objects (SMO). In SQL Server 2014 you can use SQL Server Management Studio to perform these operations. This can be done via the Backup task or maintenance plans.
