Overview of Distributed Replay
The SQL Server Profiler and Distributed Replay are two performance oriented tools that work hand in hand. In fact, there is some overlap in the functionality available with these tools. The overlap is centered on replaying a workload. Both tools can replay a workload but the capabilities surrounding the replay differ.
The SQL Server Profiler can only replay a workload on a single computer but it has replay capabilities that Distributed Replay does not. In particular, the SQL Server Profiler has debugging options that are common in a lot of Integrated Design Environments (IDEs).
