With all this envisioning and scoping, how does a team know if they have accomplished their mission of envisioning a solution? Have they done enough? Have they done too much when less would have been sufficient? Well, here are a few commonly observed success indicators:
Agreement with stakeholders and team has been obtained on the following points:
Project motivation
Solution vision
Solution scope
Conceptual solution
Conceptual architecture
Project team and structure
Technical design strategy
Constraints and goals have been documented.
Initial risk assessments have been done.
Change control and configuration management processes have been established.
Sponsor(s) and/or key stakeholders have signed off.
