Personal sites should be used for organizations seeking to have their employees fully adopt the technologies offered by SharePoint 2003 because they allow the employee to create his own working environment and learn the different capabilities of the tools. Personal sites also encourage users to experiment with alerts and links and sharing documents with other users.
Pages can be created on personal sites for specific purposes, such as for documents, or specific projects, as the top-level personal site can quickly become overcrowded.
Use the action Set as Office Default Web Site from the top-level personal site to make the My Site folder available from Microsoft Office 2003 applications.
