Client Requirements for Accessing SharePoint 2001 Document Libraries

Some organizations have SharePoint 2001 document libraries that clients need to access. If these users are also accessing SharePoint 2003 sites, the recommended hardware specifications in the previous section should be considered.

The following are Microsoft's minimum hardware requirements for a computer running the client components for backward-compatible document libraries, and are the bare minimum required for functionality:

  • Intel Pentium III–compatible 200MHz processor, with 64MB RAM.

  • 50MB hard disk space on Microsoft Windows 98 and Microsoft Windows NT 4.0; 30MB disk space on Windows 2000 and Windows XP. The disk can be formatted as NTFS, FAT, or FAT32.
