Modifying Existing Workflows
As you begin creating workflows in SharePoint, at some point you’ll inevitably want to make changes to them. Upgrading the workflow requires some planning and consideration. Some of the workflows you create will run for only a short duration, and others might run for weeks or months. Workflows with a longer duration can especially present some challenges when you attempt to modify a workflow that has running instances.
Thankfully, list workflows provide you with out-of-the-box version control.
