Workflow Steps

Using Steps in workflows, you are able to group sections or conditions within your workflows. For example, imagine you have a leave request workflow that sends a request to a user’s manager and, if approved, then sends the request on to Human Resources (HR). In this workflow you create two steps, the first being the approval by the manager and the second being the approval by HR.

You are also able to create impersonation steps in SharePoint Designer. Impersonation steps enable you to perform actions as the workflow author rather than as the person executing the workflow.
