The Role of InfoPath in SharePoint 2010

If you are using SharePoint Server 2010, enterprise edition, then you have the option of replacing the out-of-the-box ASPX display, edit, and new list forms with InfoPath forms. This is a welcome change from SharePoint Server 2007, in which you were limited by default to using the out-of-the-box ASPX list forms. Using InfoPath to replace list forms means that you have all of the rich editing capabilities available in InfoPath to easily achieve conditional formatting, add cascading drop-down fields, relate back to data sources in SharePoint sites and use rules to determine form actions.
