Ensuring Form Consistency with Multiple Content Types

In order to maintain form consistency when working with multiple content types, you should plan on creating custom list forms for all three form types: new, edit, and display. For instance, if you only add the form type new to a content type then when you edit or display items relating to that content type, those items use the default edit or display forms associated with the list. To create custom edit and display forms, follow the steps outlined earlier, placing the files in the relevant content type folder and then adding a relative path to each form in the list content type settings page.
