Forms and the Dialog Framework

By default, in SharePoint 2010, list and library forms open in a dialog rather than directing the user to a separate page. You can nominate whether a list’s (or library’s) forms should open in dialogs by changing the dialogs setting for the list. The list dialog setting is accessed from a list’s (or library’s) Advanced Settings page via the Web interface. By default, the list dialogs setting is set to Yes, which means that forms natively launch within a dialog as opposed to launching in a new page (see Figure 25.27).
