Customizing XSLT

As discussed in Chapter 22, XSLT is used as the standard rendering mechanism for XLVs in SharePoint 2010. XLVs, by default, reference uncustomized versions of XSLT files located on the Web front-end server and the XSLT schema is not exposed. For instance, the vwstyles.xsl file referenced in the preceding section manages the view styles made available to XLVs in both the Web interface and SharePoint Designer. Other XSLT files referenced by XLVs are located at %SystemDrive%\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS\XSL.
