SharePoint View Anatomy: Things You Should Know

This section discusses important factors you should be aware of when working with and customizing views in SharePoint Designer 2010. Some, or most, of the following have not changed since SharePoint 2007. We list the respective list ID numbers here as a point of reference for subsequent chapters on XLVs and DFWPs.

List Type ID

If you are planning on targeting XSLT at specific lists or discover that some of the out-of-the-box view styles do not apply to some XLVs then it’s important to know the out-of-the-box list IDs.
