Changes Between Data Sources in SharePoint Designer 2007 and 2010

Assuming that you have previously worked with SharePoint Designer 2007, you should be aware of key differences between configuring data sources in SharePoint Designer 2007 and SharePoint Designer 2010. For one, the interface has undergone significant change and data sources are now accessed via the left-hand navigation pane as opposed to accessing the Data Source Library task pane in SharePoint Designer 2007.

Although a site’s existing lists and document libraries are available within data sources, you cannot create new lists and document libraries as you could in the SharePoint Designer 2007 Data Source Library.
