What Gets Themed in SharePoint 2010

The main benefit of using themes in SharePoint 2010 is in the flexibility you have around what does and what does not get themed. By default, when you apply a theme to a SharePoint 2010 site the following items adopt the theme’s attributes such as colors, font type, and font color:

• Ribbon user interface elements

• Highlighting for bulk editing operations

• Site Action button and drop-down menu

• Shortcut menus

• Pages in the /_layouts folder

• Dialog boxes

• Web part chrome

Note

Themes do not address changing layout or positioning of objects on a page. If you want to use CSS to modify layout then consider using CSS options, as discussed in Chapter 16.
