Using the CombinedNavSiteMapProvider on Publishing Site Collections

You’ve just seen how to use the CombinedNavSiteMapProvider to effect the initial tab shown in the top-level navigation on a SharePoint Server 2010 non-publishing site collection. But what about removing the root node shown in top-level navigation in SharePoint Server 2010 publishing sites? By default, in a publishing site, based on the v4.master page, the initial navigation item is the actual name of the site—similar to showing the name of Home, but in this case the initial item inherits the site title.
