Hiding the Ribbon on Internet Sites

Although the ribbon is viewed as a functional tool on internal SharePoint sites, it is largely viewed as redundant on external sites. Therefore, when you plan to deploy SharePoint as an external site, you need to factor in how you will manage the ribbon, both for anonymous and authenticated users.

If you are using SharePoint Server 2010 the option to show and hide the ribbon is available within the site’s navigation settings.
