Add a Background Image to a Page Layout
Chapter 14, “Extending Content Pages with Media and Dialogs,” taught you how to work with images in SharePoint sites and also add a background image to a content page using a Content Editor Web Part (CEWP). This section shows you how to add a background image to a page layout, by using a separate CSS file and then referencing that CSS file in the PageHolderAdditionalPageHead content placeholder.
The following exercise assumes that you have created a custom page layout and have that page layout opened in edit mode in code view.
