Overriding Master Page Content Placeholders in Page Layouts

Similar to when you work with non-publishing pages, you have the option of customizing content placeholders inherited from the site’s master page in a page layout. However, unlike non-publishing pages, with page layouts you can affect multiple publishing pages when you choose to override a content placeholder in a page layout.
