Publishing Field Controls versus Web Parts on Page Layouts

A common question around creating new page layouts is whether to use field controls or Web parts. The good news is that you can use both, but there are some definite cases for using one over the other, discussed in this section. To start, let’s differentiate field controls from Web parts.

In Figure 15.19, the text “Project Y” is shown within a rich HTML field control, labeled Page Content and cannot be moved around on the page.
