Creating Web Part Pages from Templates

In this section, you learn how to create a new Web part page in SharePoint Designer using the same Web part page templates available when creating Web part pages via the Web interface. In SharePoint Designer 2010, there are two main sections from which to create Web part pages. One is via the SharePoint Designer backstage and the other is via the ribbon menu options when you’re in the Site Pages library or another library based on the Wiki Page library. When you create a new Web part page using the following procedure, the current site’s master page is automatically attached to the Web part page.
